Life Is a Struggle

May 20, 2013 by Anna M. Clausen in Wisdom

As I struggle to continue – Struggle to keep my faith – Struggle to survive…

I begin to understand what it means to be alive….

I sit here and contemplate my current situation,

Knowing that this prison is not my final destination…

At times I get weak and blame the system.

Wait a minute; I’m a man, so those thoughts, I dismiss them…

These years will pass slow even while life is moving fast,

I’ve accepted this sentence because I know it’s my last…

My children will grow and friends will come and go…

I will study, learn and teach, my goals I know I will reach…

I refuse to allow myself to be a victim…

Never will I beg for justice in this unjust system…

I know what it means to struggle, to fight, to survive,

to live your whole life trying to DIE…

My struggle is Life,

My struggle is Success,

My struggle is Freedom.

My struggle is a war to expose the man who is within, the man who is confined.
